This beautiful collection of vintage coloured photographs was taken by Leigh Creek resident, Gordon Longstaff, from 1956 to 1960.
Gordon was a mechanical engineer and a member of the Leigh Creek Camera Club when it was first established in 1959.

”Gordon was my husband, and he had a wonderful time with his new luxury camera, hundreds of rolls of film, and a whole world of photo opportunities, just waiting to be captured. Receiving them on their return to us from the processor was a continual delight for us both. Slide shows were all the “thing” in the second half of the ‘50s. Many were the nights I dozed in a quiet corner. Just the thought of toting so much heavy but totally essential gear as I traipsed loyally behind the camera man, ready to produce the correct this or that still brings back memories. Copley was always great to see on our way back from down south - Nearly home. I am delighted to learn that the parcel of slides that we hand delivered to the office in the New Town found a good home. It’s wonderful to see them appreciated.”
