Music, dancing and drama were just a few of the activities that made up the colourful Leigh Creek social scene. People worked hard during the week and looked forward to enjoying themselves on Saturday night. Behind the scenes, tickets were sold, bands practised, the hall was decorated, dresses and costumes were made, drinks were put on ice and supper plates prepared. With the help of many volunteers the community enjoyed regular events from formal debutante balls to footy club BBQs. The entertainment was always appreciated and often raised money for charities such as Legacy or to fund the activities of community organisations and clubs.
